JULY 4, 2024 DISTRICT LEVEL EXHIBITION AND PROJECT COMPETITION
196 schools from different districts participated and presented their models and presentation. Harleen kaur of class XB participated and presented her working model and presentation on the topic – Garbage Sorting Machine at a district level Exhibition and Project Competition conducted by Inspire Awards – Manak (2023-24) On July 4, 2024 in the premises of Meritorious School, Amritsar. Harleen Kaur made the school proud by getting selected for State Level Exhibition and Project Competition. It was really a matter of proud to get selected from such a hard competition where only 8 participant had to be selected out of 196 participants. She was awarded with trophy, certificate of merit and a stationary kit.
July 4, 2024 – POSTER MAKING ON IMPORTANCE OF VACCINES
A Poster Making Contest was organised for class XII Medical on the topic – Importance of Vaccines wherein participants designed posters with hard hitting slogans highlighting the importance of vaccination for the well-being of one’s life. Students actively participated and made everyone aware to get vaccinated and protect yourself from diseases.
JULY 12, 2024 MATHEMATICS SEMINAR ACTIVITY
An Inter class Mathematics Seminar Activity was conducted by Mathematics club on July 12, 2024 for classes VIII to X. 35 volunteers participated and delivered seminars on the different topics from their syllabus using different teaching aids – flashcards, models, power point presentation etc. The active engagement of the students enhanced their understanding of the topic and helped them retain information better.
July 19, 2024 SLOGAN WRITING COMPETITION.
A Slogan Writing Competitions was held in the premises of Modern High School on July 19, 2024. The competition aimed to help the students to have awareness about environmental conservation for future generations. Around 38 students of class IX participated and displayed their slogans in poster forms. The theme of the competition was ‘Save Environment’. The students enthusiastically showed their creativity.
July 22, 2024- ENGLISH POETRY RECITATION CONTEST
SSSS Modern High School aims to encourage creativity, confidence and appreciations for poetry among its students. An Inter class Poetry Recitation Contest was conducted by ELC on July 22, 2024 for class VIll. All the 32 participants recited mesmerizing poems of different renowned Indian poets. They were judged on the basis of confidence, gestures, Voice modulation, overall presentation etc. This activity helped to encourage self-expression among students and fostered deeper appreciations for poetry and literature.
JULY 25, 2024 TREE PLANTATION ACTIVITY
A tree plantation activity was organised in the school premises on July 25, 2024 by Sci forum. To promote environmental conservation and community engagement. 75 students of classes VIII to XII brought saplings including Neem, Aloevera, Petunia, Rose, Guava, Plum, Bayleaf, Jaismine and many medicinal plants. The students took a great initiative to make our atmosphere neat and clean. The saplings were planted in the school grounds and parks. The students took the responsibility to nourish and maintain the planted saplings. This activity was a huge success with enthusiastic participations empowering them with substantial knowledge of environment and plants.
JULY 25, 2024-READING COMPREHENSION ACTIVITY
A Reading Comprehension Activity was conducted of class VIll on July 25, 2024 by English Literacy Club. To encourage reading habits among participants, promoting literacy, Students participated actively and performed with excellence. The students read the text of their textbook loudly in the class one by one. This activity helped to promote love for language increasing their Vocabulary.
JULY 26, 2024 VOCABULARY ENRICHIMENT ACTIVITY
An Inter class Vocabulary Enrichment Competition was conducted July 26, 2024 by English Literacy Club class VIII. This activity aimed to enhance vocabulary skills, promote linguistic proficiency of the students. Around 52 students participated. This activity showcased students’ linguistic skills and enthusiasm for language learning. Students knowledge was assessed on the basis of meaning of the word, its usage and content.
JULY 29, 2024-ENGLISH SLOGAN WRITING COMPETITION
An Inter-class Slogan Writing Competition of class VIII was conducted by English Literary Club on July 29, 2024. Around 65 students participated enthusiastically in the competition unleashing their creative minds on various social issues and importance of education.
JULY 31, 2024 – TWO MINUTE SPEECH COMPETITION
To enhance public speaking skills, an Inter class Two-Minute Speech Competition was carried on for classes XI & XII commerce stream on July 31, 2024 by Commerce Dept. Around 28 volunteers participated and delivered exceptional speeches on topics – Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Why Gold is so expensive, Brand building through Social Media, Free trade policies, Scope of Commerce, AI Scams etc. Effective communication and articulation of ideas were observed. They were judged on the basis of confidence, content, Voice modulation, pronunciation and overall presentations.
July 31, 2024- STATE LEVEL EXHIBITION AND PROJECT CONTEST
Ms. Harleen Kaur, student of class X B participated in State Level Exhibition and project contest conducted by Inspire Awards – Manak (2023-24) on July 31, 2024 in the premises of Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College, Ludhiana. Around 60 schools were selected from district level competitions to compete on State level. Harleen kaur competed with full enthusiasm by presenting her working model – Garbage sorting Machine. She was awarded with Certificate of Appreciation.
AUGUST 2, 2024- CAREER COUNSELLING SESSION
A career counselling session was conducted for class XII on August 2, 2024 in the school premises. Ms. Shilpa Gupta (CA), the resource person of the session, made aware the students about the importance of opting CA and the Career Options available in private and govt sectors with this professional degree. Students found this session beneficial.
AUG, 2024- MATHEMATICS POWERPOINT PRESENTATION CONTEST
To provide critical knowledge of mathematics concepts by visualizations, a Powerpoint Presentations Activity was conducted for class IX & X in their respective classrooms on August, 2024. Various topics like triangles, probability, linear equations in two variables, real numbers, polynomial etc. were taken up for this activity as per the class syllabus. Every participant performed well.
Aug 5 to 9, 2024 INSPIRE INTERNSHIP CAMP
Gurlal Singh (XI) and Saloni (XII) the meritorious students of the school, got the opportunity to be the part A Five-Days Inspire Internship Camp hosted by the Dept of Science and Technology of Amity University, Mohali from Aug 5 to 9, 2024. The camp aimed at nurturing the scientific aptutude of the students. The camp engaged the students in a series of lectures, hands on lab sessions and interactive activities.
AUG 15, 2024 – CELEBRATION OF INDEPENDENCE DAY
The celebration of 78th Independence Day was held in the campus of Modern High School, Amritsar on Aug 15, 2024 with patriotic fervour. The chief guests of the occasions were our honourable Director Sir & Madam Director Sardarni Swaran Kaur Ji. A colourful programme was presented on this special occasion. The programme was started with School Anthem followed by patriotic group dances,songs depicting patriotic messages. Through the enactments titled ‘Sapno Ka Bharat’ and ‘Saleeka’ students presented scenario of our society. Cultural activities like girls and boys bhangra were also performed. This was followed by the prize distribution function where the achievers of class X and class XII were rewarded by the Guest of Honour of the Day for making the school proud and getting good positions in Board Exams. The Annual Magazine – The Mod Messenger was also released on this occasion. Director Sir congratulated all the students and gave a motivational speech to everyone present there. Principal S. Gurpreet Singh also interacted with the students and reminded them of the struggle, bloodshed and sacrifices that our freedom fighters did to give us this independent life.
Aug 13, 2024- DISTRICT LEVEL SAHIT SIRJAN MUQABLA
In Creative Writing Skill Competition and Divroop Kaur of class XB bagged second position in Story writing and Manharijot Singh of class XA also got second position in poetry composition. The competition was held by district level Sahit Sirjan Muquable conducted by Bhasha Vibhag, Patiala on Aug 13, 2024 in the premises of D.AV. College, Hathi Gate, Amritsar. Around 35 schools participated in the competition. Students were assigned on the spot topics for story writing, essay writing and poetry composition.
The winners were awarded with certificates of merit, along with the set of books and cash prize of Rs. 750/-
AUG, 2024-GUIDANCE SESSION ON MENSTURAL HEALTH HYGIENE
An awareness session on Menstural Health Hygiene was conducted in the 2nd week of August, 2024 in the school premises for the female students of classes VII to XII. The resource person of this session was Dr.Gagandeep Kaur Coordinator (Member Health Hygiene). She efficiently enhanced the knowledge regarding menstural hygiene practices, importance of access to menstural products and sanitation facilities etc. The session was ended with the distribution of sanitary pads to all the girls. It proved to be engaging and captivating for all the participants.
AUG 4, 2024 – MATHEMATICS CROSSWORD PUZZLE ACTIVITY
To strengthen the cognitive ability and critical thinking of the students, a Crossword Puzzle Activity was conducted for classes IX & X by Mathematics Club on August 4, 2024. All the students participated and competed to complete the maths puzzles within the stipulated time.
Aug 13, 2024 – COUNSELLING SESSION BY AKASH INSTITUTE
A counselling session was conducted in the school premises by Akash Institute on August 13, 2024 for classes IX & X. The resource person of the session made aware the students about prestigious scholarship programme ANTHE 2024 (Akash National Talent Hunt Exam) Conducted by Akash every year to empower the students from diverse backgrounds to reach their academic potential. The students were informed and encouraged to enroll themselves for this ample platform to showcase their dreams and convert them into reality. All in all it was an informative session.
AUG 18, 2024 – GRID GENIUS ACTIVITY
To strengthen the cognitive skills of the students, a Grid Genius Activity for class XI was conducted by IT department on August 18, 2024. Participants solved different difficult grids related to the topics of python and coding. They actively forced themselves to read through the clues, recall and review to solve puzzles. They all performed exceptionally well.
AUG 20, 2024- GO GAMING ACTIVITY
To increase students’ knowledge in the world of algorithms and help them out to prove their speed, accuracy and efficiency, a Go Gaming Activity using python programming was conducted on August 20, 2024 for classes XI & XII by IT Dept. Students earnestly participated and tried to execute the programmes like calculator, web browser, clock, calendar, Text editor etc.
Aug 20, 2024 WORD- ART COMPETITION
To encourage creativity, self-expression and visual literacy through word art, an English word Art competition was carried on by English Literary Club for classes XI on August 20, 2024. Around 35 student’s demonstrated exceptional creativity by using different calligraphic fonts in the form of posters, collages etc. Student’s performance was assessed on the basis of creativity, originality and effective use language. It was a resounding success, showcasing participants’ imagination and artistic talent.
AUG 21, 2024- GUIDANCE SESSION ON NUTRITIONAL DIET
To educate the students about the importance of a balanced nutritional diet for their well being, a guiding session was conducted in the school premises on Aug 21, 2024 for classes VIII & IX. The resource persons were Dr. Rishabh Taneja and Dr. Harshita. The speakers discussed the fundamentals of a healthy diet, including macronutrients, micronutrients etc. Various topics like importance of hydration, benefits of whole foods, risks of processed and sugary food etc. were covered in the session. JULY 8, 2024 – PUNJABI BHASHAN PRATIYOGTA
To promote love for language, a Punjabi Bhashan Pratiyogta was organised for class XII on July 8, 2024 by Punjabi Likhari Sabha. 30 volunteers participated and displayed their oratory skills on the different topics assigned to them. They all were appreciated for putting their best foot forward.
JULY 31, 2024 – PUNJABI SAHIT SIRIJAN PRATIYOGTA
An Inter class Sahit Sirjan Muqabla was organised by Likhari Sabha on July 31,2024 for classes IX & X. Around 50 volunteers participated and presented their novel Ideas in the form of poetry, essay and story writing. The topics were assigned on the spot. This activity provided an ample opportunity for encouraging students to write quality literature.
Aug 30, 2024 – SCIENCE LEARNING BY DOING ACTIVITY
A science activity ‘Learning by Doing’ was conducted for classes VIII & IX on August 30, 2024 to offer students, an authentic opportunity that drives students to think and investigate; and promotes practical learning. Students performed different practicals of their syllabus. The activity aimed to develop better understanding, knowledge retention among the students. All the volunteers were appreciated by giving certificate of appreciation.
Aug 30, 2024 – MATHEMATICS RIDDLE ACTIVITY
To develop logical reasoning, critical thinking and problem-solving skills among the students, a Mathematics Riddles Activity was conducted by Mathematics Club for classes IX & X on August 30, 2024. Volunteers from above mentioned classes participated and performed well by solving the riddles using applications of deductive reasoning, inductive reasoning or both, to make sense of given situation and solve a problem. It was a learning experience for the students.
AUG 30, 2024 – SUNDAR LIKHAI PRATIYOGTA
To improve presentation skills among students, an Inter class Sundar Likhai Pratiyogta was conducted by Likhari Sabha on August 29 & 30, 2024 for classes VIll to X. The competition witnessed the participation of more than 140 students. They all exhibited their writing skills through different forms of calligraphic fonts.
AUG 30, 2024- ACTIVITY OF MOCK ELECTIONS
Social Science club organised an activity on ‘Demo Elections’ for class IX in the school premises. This activity aimed to familiarize the students of the working of the Indian democratic system, All the students participated with zeal. Demo Elections gave students an ample opportunity to participate in the electoral process. They all were made aware of how elections are conducted in our country. Shortlisted students created their party, party symbols with catchy slogans and frammed in their manifests. On the decided election day the students casted their votes. Then the ballots were counted and result was declared. The candidates who received the maximum number of votes were elected for the posts of class monitor, cupboard monitor and environment ranger. Altogether, the students had a stimulating and energizing experience that reinforced their management and leadership skills.
SEPTEMBER 2, 2024- QUIZ CONTEST (GAME OF KNOWLEDGE)
An Inter-Section Quiz Contest (Game of knowledge) was conducted by Social Science Dept. on Sep 2, 2024 of class X. The purpose of the quiz was to evaluate the knowledge of the students about social science and to make them more engaged in the subject, There were five teams named as Pacific, Atlantia, Indian, Southern and Arctic each consisting four members in each team. All the teams showcased their brilliance by rapidly answering the questions. It was an informative and knowledgeable contest for all the students. Students from audience also participated actively by giving correct answers.
SEPTEMBER 3, 2024 – GURMAT GYAN MUQABLA
To mark the Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, a Gurmat Gyan Muqabla was organised on September 3, 2024 by Punjabi Likhari Sabha in the premises of the school. There were four teams named as Bhagat Farid Ji, Bhagat Kabir Ji, Bhagat Ravidas Ji, Bhagat Namdev Ji. All the teams were asked questions related to Gurbani and Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. The winner team of the quiz was Bhagat Farid Ji. All the teams were appreciated by giving trophies and medals. The purpose of the competition was to connect the young generation with Gurbani and telling them the importance of our Sikh History.
